FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHERE WILL I STAY?
Lost Valley has an assortment of cabins, and we will make room placements according to the unique group that signs up. Some of you will come by yourself, and some of you will come with a friend or spouse. If you come alone, we place you in a room with 1-3 other people of the same gender, each of you having your twin bed. Couples will have rooms together with queen or king beds. Please indicate on the registration if you have trouble climbing stairs and we will choose your cabin accordingly.
Our cabins feature separate living rooms with fireplaces (wood is delivered daily) and are made up every day by staff. Inside your cabin, you'll also discover a range of modern conveniences including mini-refrigerators, Keurig coffeemakers and plenty of oversized towels.
WHAT DOES THE COST COVER?
Lost Valley Ranch is a four-star Dude Ranch known for its extreme hospitality. The $1590.00 cost of the workshop covers a four-day experience alongside other leaders, breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, lodging, and transportation to and from the Denver airport if you are flying into the area. Other travel accommodations (flying or driving to the area) are not included in the total cost of the retreat.
HOW DO I BOOK A FLIGHT?
If you are flying in, plan to arrive at the Denver airport (DEN) between the hours of 11:30 am and 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 10. Plan your departure flight on November 13 at 4:00 pm or after. We will be picking up and dropping off between the airport and Lost Valley in three waves depending on your flight times. We will reach out to you for those times 2.5 weeks before our time together so that we can coordinate your travel to the Ranch.
I’LL BE DRIVING – HOW DO I GET THERE?
Please refer to the Lost Valley website, www.lostvalleyranch.com, for the most accurate directions to Lost Valley Ranch. GPS devices may or may not be the best tool for getting to the ranch. Within 1 hour of the ranch, there is no cell phone service. Make sure to make any necessary calls before you lose signal. Be aware that the roads to Lost Valley Ranch are long and windy.
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE IN THE WORKSHOP?
We've capped the retreat to around 40 people to allow for community building.
WHAT IS THE DEMOGRAPHIC OF THE ATTENDEES?
We will have leaders from every background. By leaders, we mean people that are desiring to invest spiritually beyond themselves, not just pastors and church staff. We hope for a diversity of workplaces, denominations, and destinations from which we are arriving. Some of you will come on your own, and some will come with a friend or spouse. It's important that you agree with our mission and values before you invest in the retreat.
WHAT DO I PACK?
· Jeans are the order of the day at the ranch
· Jacket / coat, hats, gloves, especially for cooler mornings and evenings
· Closed toe shoes for horseback riding (cowboy boots encouraged; hiking boots or tennis shoes will work)
· Bathing suit for hot tubs
· Hats, sunscreen, and sunglasses
· Athletic clothes if you are interested in hiking
WHAT ABOUT THE FREE TIME ACTIVITIES?
None are required, but we will have opportunities for horseback riding, hiking, fishing, archery, hot tubs, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a half basketball court, and games and puzzles that are available for check-out. There are additional charges that will need to be paid for before you check out for horseback, skeet shooting, and archery.
WHAT ABOUT GRATUITY?
From Lost Valley: No tip or gratuity is required or expected. Meeting your expectations does not qualify us for any tips. If, however, our service exceeds your expectations, you may leave something for the staff gratuity fund. We strongly believe that serving you is a “TEAM” effort by our staff; therefore, all tips will be divided evenly among all the staff.
WHAT IS THE ELEVATION?
The ranch sits at about 7,500 ft in elevation. We recommend that you drink lots of water before your arrival and continue once you are here. Altitude sickness is something that a small percentage of our guests experience, especially if they are coming from sea level.
WHAT ABOUT WIFI AND PHONE USAGE?
In the main lodge, we have Wi-Fi capability as well as two telephones to use at no additional charge. We do not have Wi-Fi access, televisions, or phones in our cabin areas. Lastly, there is no cell phone coverage on the ranch.
DO YOU PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS?
Unfortunately, at this time, we do not offer any scholarships or provide refunds. However, we find that bosses and pastors often have a budget set aside to at least subsidize the cost of personal development. A tip- you can avoid the credit card fee online- just email us at email@example.com if you want to pay by check. If you need to pay things out, just email us!
